The Story of Senso-ji Temple

The legend behind the temple is deeply intertwined with the story of two fishermen, Hinokuma Hamanari and Hinokuma Takenari, who found a small statue of the Bodhisattva Kannon while fishing in the Sumida River. The brothers, believing the statue to be divine, placed it in their home. Eventually, the statue was brought to the village headman, who realized the sacred nature of the statue and built a temple around it in gratitude.

Since then, Senso-ji Temple has been a place of worship, pilgrimage, and spiritual solace for both locals and visitors. The temple is dedicated to Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy, who is revered for her compassion and kindness.
